a storm system is heading our way, bringing rain that could turn into snow. but the main concern is wind. jeff smith is here with the accuweather forecast. >> and you wouldn't know it looking at central park. that's going to change in a big way. we have a high wind warning in effect that goes into effect at midnight through 2 p.m. on sunday basically for the entire viewing area. and damaging winds are likely. locally damaging winds are likely, especially around dawn tomorrow. a couple of showers north of new york city. and a steadier batch over dutchess county. and we have this very energetic upper level system sing through lower michigan and diving off to the south and east and this will be here later on tonight. watch what happens as this moves in. there'll be a squall line of

new jersey around midnight. that can change over to a period of snow. it could even accumulate in areas minority of the city. i-- north of the city. that's at 5:00 in the morning. the wind will be howling right through the morning hours. high winds from late tonight to tomorrow afternoon. damaging gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour. i think the peak gusts will be around daybreak tomorrow. that's the best chance of power outages and damage with downed trees and power lines, and also the rain showers turning to snow showers. it could be a coating to an inch or so. many more details coming up in the full accuweather forecast. breaking news in the bronx. two people have been hurt after a car slammed into a building in wakefield. >> we have the details live from the scene. a.j-- >> reporter: this all happened

and there's extensive damage to the restaurant here on the corner of white plains road and east 223rd street. the hyundai elantra jumped the curb and hit a man sitting inside. as we arrived on scene we noticed a man near the front door being attended to by medics. police quickly arrived on scene and that man was placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital. and according to eyewitnesses this all stemmed from an accident between two cars. one car was making the turn on east 223rd street and another car collided with it. the driver lost control and went into the restaurant. and right now the nypd

determine more specifics as to what caused all of this. an eyewitness -- >> the car came from that side and hit the car that was coming this side to turn. and i guess she lost control. the lady seemed like she panicked when the car hit her. >> reporter: from what we've been told the drivers involved in the accident remained on the scene. the nypd is interview witnesses to determine what caused all of this. and trying to get an update on the condition of the patron inside the restaurant when this all occurred. a.j. ross, channel 7 eyewitness news. a 103-year-old woman was attacked inside a building and the woman who did it was half her age. >> reporter: police say they

charged with robbery, harassment, and assault for mugging a 103-year-old woman here in co-op city. cops say the woman in the video is 53-year-old sharon mcneil accused of following the victim into the building, riding the elevator with her. and when they got off police say mcneil attacked her, leaving her bruised. >> he pushed me to the ground and took my shopping cart with everything in it. i had everything, my money and everything in it. >> she said the assailant was -- the suspect took off with $35. coming up at 6:00. we'll tell you if she forgives her attacker.

a suspicious package forced the evacuation of port of the port authority bus terminal. police cleared the south building this afternoon to investigate the item which was wrapped in brown paper and near a bar on the second level. the area was reopened 30 minutes later. port authority police did not say what was found. a man was found dead on the side of the bronx river parkway in i don't thinkers, a passer -- in yonkers. >> it's not clear whether the man died at the scene or somewhere else. the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. a tractor-trailer jackknifed about 10:15 this morning. two traffic lanes were closed for two hours as workers cleaned up the scene. no injuries were reported. the brussels airport will

a mix of clouds and sun. and still the wind at 30 to 45, gusting up to 50 and 60 miles per hour. right now 55 degrees at morristown. and 46 at monticello. we have had a few light showers across much of the area after through. and we'll track the next system and at midnight the squall line comes in to western new jersey and this could be accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong wind gusts. after the line moves by and we get rain showers changing to snow showers during the predawn hours, there could be a coating to an inch north and west of the city. and then the wind howls during the day tomorrow. and temperatures in the low 40s for a high. and then another system comes into play during the day on monday. we have snow and rain developing across the area. and changing to rain in the city.

north where there could be some accumulation and it does not look like a good opening day at yankees stadium. we can get the initial burst of 350-mile-per-hour winds. and 50-mile-per-hour is in the purple. around 1 a.m. with the squall line and that overspreads the entire area during the morning hours of sunday before it finally starts to calm down. here's the accuweather forecast. turning very windy late. and more widespread showers changing to snow showers after midnight. we're down to 37. very windy and chillier and a high getting up to 43. and potentially damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour during the morning. and turns cloudy and cold with diminishing wind ahead of our next system down to 34. he's opening day at yankees stadium.

the oil and gas industry. devin dwyer, abc news. >> stay with us for the latest on the coverage. and get the latest at www.abc7ny.com. a small plane crashed on a freeway in southern california killing one and injuring five others. a plane went down on i-15, 50 miles north of san diego. one person in the car died and three passengers in the vehicle and two people in the plane were taken to the hospital for treatment. the conditions are unknown. two more bodies have been found in the rubble of an overpass in india. that brings the death toll now to 26 people. four top officials from the construction company responsible for the bridge have been arrested. and authorities have detained up to six more. a company executive refuses to take responsibility for the

of god that brought the overpass down. fighting is heating up near one of syria's largest cities. 25 pro government fighters died in crashes. an al-qaeda affiliated group has taken over an area near a major highway. this comes after weeks of air invitations on opposition held areas. the syrian government is fighting despite a partial seizefire. north korea says they have tested -- with the members of the military watching the launch. the time and location of the launch was not included in the tv report. yesterday, south korea said the north had fired a short range missile into the ocean. changes are coming to taxicabs in new york city.

seven on your side comes to the rescue of all sorts of victims. one of them happens to be four legs. the dog you're about to meet was used as a so called bait dog. now she has a second chance at a better life. >> she's had a rough life and has come very far. >> reporter: she's waiting for a forever home. >> how come no one adopted you? >> it's been three years after she was rescued off death row. thousands signed a petition to save her. and now she's a mascot for rescue dog, the movie. >> and each has its own charity that does amazing stuff.

and this thing arrives and this thing is pretty strong over southern parts of lower michigan. and this is going to dive to the south and east and be right over us after midnight. and east of us by tomorrow morning. here's our high resolution future cast. and it shows good details in terms of the intensity that will move in. just after midnight. this is a squall line. this could have briefly heavy rain and rumbles of thunder, and winds gusting to 50 miles per hour. and the wind whips around from the west. and all of this at 4:15 in the morning. probably in the form of snow from new york city and points north where there could be a coating to an inch or so as you head north. by 7:15 a.m. it starts moving offshore. and the pattern through the early part of the month will be
